I (Michael) decided to get up and do some work on the computer - it was 5:45 am when I did, but the internet gave me nothing but grief. This dial up connection is real frustrating, not because it is slower, we are used to that at home, but because all the other couples get high speed hooked up with their cable. They get high speed for a reasonable price, plus they can phone home using their high speed and it only costs them 3 cents per minute. And here we are, having to spend about $10 for each I-card and get about 7 hrs. per card unless we go online between 2 and 8 am, then the time quadruples. Anyway, I am going to look into that some more today.
Anyhow, it is now an hour later and I am just working on the blog, b/c it wouldn't let me earlier.
When we got to the baby house, we got to sneak a peak of our little guy eating, and boy they really stuff the food in. But he is a very good eater and doesn't mind one bit as he actually kept one hand on the caregivers to make sure she didn't go anywhere. He looks much better today as his rash seems to be mostly gone, but can still see a little bit. If he was allergic to the fruit tea, so much the better b/c all that is is pure sugar and water. Jennifer got him some pear juice yesterday that you mix with water, and that is supposed to be very mild.
Since we are not supposed to post any pictures of Kaz, I finally convinced Jennifer that we should then give out his given name and our chosen name, and some other details. His given name is MILAT, which he never really responds to anyway, so we decided to go with MATTHEW(which means "gift of God" and seems very appropriate) (we aren't sure one T or two Ts yet!- negotiations are on going!) for his first name. We have been calling him M&M for short! [My (JJ's) turn for a minute - We wanted to use Geoffrey, after my (Jennifer's) Uncle Geoff. The story I have been told is he and his wife tried to adopt a little boy in the 50's I believe. They even had a little red headed boy they were set to adopt when the birth family took him back because Uncle Geoff and Aunt Betty were the wrong religion. Uncle Geoff would have made the most awesome dad and the story is especially poignant for us. Unfortunately, he really doesn't look like a Geoffrey, at all.]
We are also ready to give a little more info: Matthew was born early at 32 wks on December 11, 2006, weighed about 3 lbs and is now 14lbs and 25" long! He has the most beautiful, deep, deep brown eyes and long lashes! He also has my chin and cheeks and Michael's shape of eyebrow. His eye shape is similar to Michael as well (our coordinator commented on this right away!) He is quite the roller and likes to scoot, on his tummy or his back! He would rather lounge than sit! He will sit for a little bit before throwing himself over and grinning at us.
Back to M. We had a very nice visit with Matthew as he was back to his good ol' self. He is a very happy baby and he only fussed a little bit when he started to get tired. He was also doing lots of talking and he gets this cute laugh that sounds like a giggle. Also, more to the end of our visit, he was very cuddly and was concentrating more on our faces. I think he is finally starting to bond with us. When it was finally time to go, I got to put him into his crib myself, which may seem like a small thing but to me it wasn't.
We did our usual stuff in the afternoon, except I wasn't feeling that great so Jennifer decided to go to the Ram store by herself. She wasn't gone that terribly long, but she smelt strongly of beer when she got back. Apparently, she was grabbing a couple of bottles of MGD of the circular shelf, and with her purse over her shoulder the purse caught another bottle and it went falling to the floor with a loud smash. I guess there was dead silence, and the beer went everywhere and Jennifer says that lots of it somehow ended up on her. (JJ- Yeah, from head to toe including all over my glasses. When I do a job, I do it right! That is one more reason why my parents didn't name me Grace!) And this wasn't a regular sized bottle that we usually got (like the ones in Canada), but was about 50 % larger. Oh yeah, they also made very sure that she paid for this broken bottle when she got to the counter. (JJ again- After lots of gesturing and people staring, they escorted me to the check-out and loudly told the cashier to charge me for an extra "Meeller"!) I'm kind of glad I wasn't there to share her embarassment.
Anyway, tonite was movie night, and now that we knew the city (or at least the part we walk and where we drive to the baby house), getting to Marwan and Annettes was going to be a lot easier. We ended up meeting up with Tony and Meghan on our way there. And yes Marwan and Annette have a very nice apartment! We ended up watching the movie RV, which has Robin Williams in it and it is great for a ball of laughs. We loved it and would watch it again. We ended up going to the supermarket, that was close by, after the movie. There we found a noisy toy for Matthew and some other keepsakes.
Since we can't post any pictures of Mathew (which most of the pictures are of) these will have to do for now.
Some interesting architecture.

What a beautiful name. Welcome to our family baby Matthew. Kendra can hardly wait to boss her new boy cousin around. We hope you can solve your internet/cable problem. Anyways take care and we will type to you later. Give Matthew a big kiss and squeeze from all of us.

Was so happy to learn more about our great-nephew. He has certainly done well after such an "early entrance". Sounds like a busy little fellow. The name choice is very fitting. We are in a real heat wave - up around 35 and very humid. Thank goodness for AC. Is your apt. hot? Love G & K
Yay! I'm so happy to hear more details. Mat(t)hew is just one month younger than Kiana. By the way, she too got a nasty rash and they said "too many sweets" (by which they meant too much sugar, I presume) and started giving her stuff without sugar. I'm convinced there are about 5 different diagnoses that they use for absolutely every problem at the baby house. Any rash seems to get the "too much sugar" diagnosis. I bought extra antihistamines and cream that they'd recommended for Kiana and left them with the doctors. That seemed to do the trick. Yeah, being on dial up when everyone else has DSL sucks! It's something to lobby the landlord about since she has to sign a contract or something to get a DSL hook-up. But back to the most important thing, give Matthew lots of hugs and kisses from his fan club in Canada! --JG
Ok, so the pack of wild dogs is really cute! We saw a really ugly mangy one on the way back to the apartment today... not too cute...
So Tony and I vote for Mathew with one "T" as we like names that are different. Except Taylor... cant really spell that different!
Annette and I (Maegan) are going to plan another dinner shortly. Ideas?
And btw, I plan to comment often ;)
What a beautiful name!!! I hadn't checked the blog this morning but Kaitlyn just phoned me to tell me.
I can just imagine what the second name will be!!!
Another hot day out here and humid!! 34oC Thank goodness for AC.
Take care, MOM
