It's a scorcher!!!!!

Boy, was it hot today! We got to do our full two hours of visiting today. We start out by changing diapers and dressing him in clothes we brought. Unfortunately, for some reason I had in my head our child would be on the older end of our scale so most of the clothes I brought were too big!

We are amazed at how quickly he is changing. Yesterday he tried to push himself along and today he was like a bull dozer! - He dug his toes in and scooted across our mat, through the toys of the little girl next to us, grabbed her soother and stuck it in his mouth! Michael pulled him back by his legs and Kaz giggle the whole way! We decided to try out our "Snugglie" backpack and to take a walk around the grounds. A group of older children (3-4yrs) were having a ball in a little wading pool and being sprayed by a hose. A group of infants were having a rest in big cribs in the shade. All too soon it was over and we had to take him back to his room for a nap. He was pretty tired by this time and just before, Michael enjoyed giving him a bottle of "fruit tea". The whole time he studied Michael's face!

It's funny though, one moment you are totally in love with this child, believe he is yours and the next you are filled with doubts. The comforting thing is that each day seems to bring fewer and fewer doubts and more certainty. You expect that it will be love at first sight, but as you talk to pople who have been in your shoes before, you find out that this is a completely normal part of the process. Then one day you wake up and wonder why you ever doubted in the first place. I guess until we get to that point we just have to have faith that God wouldn't bring us to this point just to have it all fall apart.

We found out today that he is not actually eligible to be adopted until the 20th so that means our two week bonding period doesn't start until then. But at least we get to keep visiting him and don't have to wait until Friday. (I was a little freaked out when I heard the 20th until I realized today was the 18th (Happy Birthday again, Mom!)

After our visit, our driver (who after asking our names called us Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez!) took us to a building that had lots of reasonably priced baby clothes where we bought several onesie type outfits for a decent price. We need some that fit, especially since he seems to be a puker!

We were invited to one of the American couples apartment to watch a movie in the evening. Michael writing - Jennifer thought she had got pretty good directions from the woman and I believed that they had it all figured out. Now picture this we have no map of the city, just the little won that Jennifer sketched based on the American woman's directions. We also can't read the signs and she never used few landmarks as a reference point. I also don't think the streets run true north. Having said that we were supposedly told to turn and walk left at the Ram store and walk until we got to a fruit stand. Well we ended up seeing at least 4 fruit stands altogether and figured that was it. They were supposed to be able to see us from there - meanwhile it's one of the few days since we've been here where there is virtually no wind - and about 35 celsius. Anyway after about walking lost for an hour we made it back to our apartment, and the elevator was stuck, again. So we had to climb 9 flights of stairs where we stumbled into our apartment dripping wet. I knew I shouldn't have trusted two woman with directions - but I tried to have faith. Next time I'll know better - I might be in trouble for the last comment!?
